Interested in pickling, but not sure where to start?
In this hands-on workshop, we'll make several different pickles. Quick vinegar pickles that you can eat today, and slower fermented ones that will develop flavour (and good bacteria) over time.
You'll have a chance to taste the difference between the methods, then you can choose what you'd like to add to your jars. No experience needed, just curiosity :)
You'll leave with everything you need to continue pickling at home.
Sound like your kind of afternoon? Join us!
What you'll learn
- about different methods of preservation – salt, acid, heat and fermentation
- how to safely preserve at home, using ingredients you likely have at home
- how to make pickles adjusted to your taste, better than store-bought
- how you can make your pickles shelf-stable
- how to maintain a healthy ferment, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
What you'll take home
- two finished pickles, ready to eat later the same day
- one salted/brined pickle, to ferment at home
- jars for fermenting
- pH strips
- a recipe card with simple vinegar and brine-based pickles that you can make at home.
The workshop lasts from 1pm to approximately 4pm and costs € 55-, which includes all necessary pots, tools and ingredients. You'll leave with everything you need to begin confidently pickling at home.
A few practical things...
All fermented, live-culture foods carry some level of risk. For most people, however, they are safe and beneficial. If you are pregnant or have a compromised immune system please consult your doctor.
We clearly label allergens in our ingredients and will mention these during the workshop. Please let us know about any allergies in advance so we can prepare properly.
We can accommodate most allergies, but only if we know ahead of time. If you haven't told us about an allergen (e.g. gluten) at least 48 hours before the workshop and we're unable to accommodate it, we can't offer a refund.
There is a dedicated section for allergens and accessibility needs in our registration form. Feel free to contact us with extra details.
- 100% refund if cancelled at least 4 days before the workshop.
- 50% refund if cancelled less than 4 days before the workshop.
- No refund if cancelled less than 48 hours before the workshop.
If you are unable to attend the workshop, you can transfer your ticket to another person. Please contact us if you would like to do this.
In the unlikely event that the workshop is cancelled, you will receive a full refund.
Each ticket or place is valid for one person only. Multiple people can not share one ticket (eg: a couple can not pay for one ticket, nor can a parent and child.), unless otherwise stated on the event page and within the registration process.
If you have trouble making payment via our website, please contact us.
